pH, fat or protein system, oxygen sensitivity, filling temperature, sterilization route and target period.
BIOTEN ULTRA / ROUTE 03
Ultra places a PHA bio-based waterborne coating into a complete multilayer liquid pack as a candidate functional layer, closing the evidence system together with oxygen barrier, light protection, sterilization fit, edge sealing, package integrity and shelf life.

02 / SYSTEM WINDOW
Liquid-pack architecture is jointly driven by contents, filling and sterilization process, target shelf life, light and oxygen sensitivity, edge risk and functional-layer parameters.
pH, fat or protein system, oxygen sensitivity, filling temperature, sterilization route and target period.
Paperboard load layer, liquid barrier, oxygen or light barrier, seal layer, print layer and edge protection are defined separately.
Coating or lamination, drying, creasing, longitudinal and transverse seals, cutting, filling and inline inspection windows.
Material permeation, seals, edges, defect rate, storage temperature and humidity and content change are modeled together.
03 / VALIDATION GATES
Material transmission, seal integrity, edge protection, filling process and distribution conditions jointly form the release basis for the complete pack.
| Validation domain | Planned fields | Coordinated closure |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid & vapor | Liquid contact, WVTR conditions, edge wicking, pinholes and creases | Cobb describes liquid-water uptake, WVTR describes water-vapor transmission, and container performance is validated on the complete structure |
| Oxygen & light | OTR conditions, light-protection need, interfaces and defect contribution | The PHA waterborne functional layer is co-designed with dedicated oxygen and light barriers |
| Seals & edges | Seal strength, seal integrity, capillary ingress, cut edges and corners | Material coating, edge engineering and package integrity are closed together |
| Filling & sterilization | Hot or cold fill, sterilant, temperature–time profile and material compatibility | Aseptic status and sterilization fit are established through the filling process, complete structure and dedicated evidence |
| Shelf life | Accelerated and real time, sensory or physicochemical change, distribution and failure statistics | The shelf-life model is established on target contents and the complete pack |
04 / DOCUMENT STATUS
Oxygen-barrier, moisture-barrier and shelf-life results are linked to specimen structure, method conditions, batch, equipment and revision to form traceable project evidence.
Defines each layer's function, interlayer adhesion, creases, edge seals and potential failure interfaces.
Binds WVTR, OTR, sealing, migration, integrity and shelf-life results to test conditions.
Food contact, fluorinated-substance or PFAS claims, repulping and composting routes each build their own evidence and are consolidated at complete-structure level.
Industrial-composting suitability is evaluated on the target finished pack under EN 13432, ASTM D6868 or another applicable specification; home composting follows its own conditions and certification route.
Submit contents, filling and sterilization route, target shelf life, layer structure, equipment and current failure. The system retains field, topic, route and source to connect research, validation and release.
